How to Update

1. Download the update.zip and EU cust package from above and extract them both.
2. Create a new folder “dload” in the external SD card of your phone.
3. Now copy UPDATE.APP file extracted from the first package (update.zip) to this new dload folder.
4. Take a full backup of your important data and turn off your device.
5. Press and hold Vol down + Vol up + Power for a few seconds until your phone boots up and starts updating.
6. Once your device restarts after successful installation, remove the UPDATE.APP file from the dload folder and replace it with the UPDATE.APP file extracted from the second package (update_full_hw_eu.zip).
7. Finally, turn off your phone and trigger the update installation using the same 3-key combination (step 5).

TWRP Method

If you’re encountering errors with the previous method during the installation, you might still be able to install the update using a custom recovery using TWRP.

Simply copy both the update.zip and update_full_hw_eu.zip to your phone, reboot into TWRP and, after taking a full nandroid backup, install both the packages (update.zip first).

Upgrading Instructions

Compatibility: Before installing this update, verify your phone’s model from Settings > About Phone. Your device already needs to be running a C432 based firmware with unlocked bootloader.

Step 1. Connect your phone to the PC in mass storage mode and create a new folder “HWOTA” in the top-level directory of its external microSD card.

Step 2. Download and rename the zip files provided above and copy them to the new HWOTA folder in your microSD card.

Step 3. Download the Huawei P10 Updater tool from here and extract the HWOTA folder from the zip package on the Desktop.

Step 4. Unplug the USB cable from your phone and turn it off. Then insert the USB cable again while holding the Volume down key – this will start the phone in fastboot mode.

Step 5. Now, open the extracted HWOTA folder on your computer and execute the update.bat file as administrator (Windows only).

Step 6. The updater tool will ask you to reboot the phone in fastboot mode. Since you’ve already done that (step 4), hit Enter key to continue.

Step 7. After replacing your phone’s stock recovery, the program will tell you to reboot into TWRP mode – Simply disconnect the USB cable, power the device off and then hold Volume up + Power for a few seconds until you’re in TWRP recovery.

Step 8. Now, reconnect the USB cable and press the Enter key (twice) on your computer.

Step 9. You’ll now be asked to choose the update source. Type 1 and press Enter.

Step 10. Next, for update type selection, type 1 and hit the Enter key twice.

Step 11. If you’ve done everything correctly, your phone should automatically reboot and start the update installation.

8. Finally, return to the main screen and reboot into the system.

Note: As this is a multi-file beta update, you may not be able to install it successfully even through TWRP. If that happens, you might wanna try using the Firmware Finder app from the Play store and downloading the MF-PV version of this update (if available) through proxy.

How to Update

Note: Confirm your phone’s model from Settings > About Phone before proceeding. Your device already needs to be on a C432 (Europe) firmware with unlocked bootloader.

Step 1. Connect your phone to the computer via a USB cable and create a new folder “HWOTA” (without quotes, of course) in the top directory of the external SD card.

Step 2. Download and rename the zip files provided above and transfer them to the HWOTA folder you created in the microSD card.

Step 3. Download the Huawei P10 updater script from this link and extract the HWOTA folder from it on the Desktop.

Step 4. Disconnect the USB cable turn your phone off. After that, reinsert the USB cable again while holding the Volume down key to start the phone in fastboot/bootloader mode.

Step 5. Open the HWOTA folder on your computer and execute the update.bat file as administrator (this only works on Windows).

Step 6. The updater tool will ask you to reboot the phone in fastboot mode. As you’ve already done that (step 4), press the Enter key to continue.

Step 7. The script will replace your phone’s recovery and tell you to reboot into TWRP mode – just disconnect the USB cable, power the device off and then hold Volume up + Power for a few seconds to enter TWRP recovery.

Step 8. Now, reconnect the USB cable and press the Enter key twice on your computer.

Step 9. For the update source, type 1 and press Enter.

Step 10. Next, type 1 and hit the Enter key twice to confirm the selection of update type.

Your phone should now automatically reboot into its stock recovery and start the update installation. You can now safely disconnect the USB cable at this stage.

Upgrading Instructions

1. Firmware Finder Method

1. Download & install the Firmware Finder app by Team MT from the Play Store.

2. After installation, open the Firmware Finder app, go to its settings and enable “Use proxy for install” – download and install the proxy addon when prompted by the app.

3. Install the addon when it downloads completely.

4. Next, go to your phone’s settings → Wi-fi → tap & hold the network you’re connected to and select Modify network → Show Advanced options → Manual.

5. Enter the following details to change the proxy settings:

Proxy hostname: localhost
Proxy port: 8080

Tap Save (or Connect) to save the settings.

6. Open the Firmware Finder app, find the full MF-PV version of B383 firmware and send it to the firmware updater.

7. Now go to Settings → Updater. If an update is available, disable the proxy you set earlier (Wifi → Modify network → Proxy → None → Save).

After disabling the proxy, return to the Updater and proceeding to install the new update.

2. Custom Recovery Method

1. For this procedure, you’ll require TWRP custom recovery and an unlocked bootloader.
2. Download the 3 firmware zip files using the aforementioned links.
3. Copy the firmware files (update.zip, public data and cust package) to the internal memory or the external microSD card of your device.
4. Unplug the USB cable and turn your device off.
5. Reboot into TWRP mode by holding Vol up + Power keys for a few seconds.
6. In TWRP, take a full backup and then install the files in this order:

› update.zip
› update_full_VNS-L11_hw_eu.zip
› update_data_full_public.zip

How to Update

1. Using TWRP

1. Download the firmware files provided above and copy them to your phone without extracting.
2. Unplug the USB cable and turn your phone off.
3. Now hold Vol up + Power keys for a few seconds to boot into TWRP mode.
4. [Optional] Take a full backup of all the partition images and store it in the external microSD card.
5. Next, go to Install and select the update.zip package.
6. After that flash the remaining two zip files (public data and cust) and then wipe the dalvik cache.
7. Reboot into the system after the installation.

2. Using Firmware Finder

1. Search for the ‘Firmware Finder’ app in the Play Store and install it.
2. After installation, open the app, go to its settings from the menu and check “Use proxy for install” – allow the app to download & install the proxy addon when you’re requested.
3. Next, go to settings → Wifi → tap & hold the current network and choose Modify network → Show Advanced options → Manual.
4. Enter the following details in the proxy settings: Proxy hostname: localhost | Proxy port: 8080
5. Tap Save (or Connect) to exit the settings.
6. Now return to the Firmware Finder app, find the full VNS-L31C432B382 firmware (preferably the MF-PV version) and send it to the firmware updater.
7. Open Settings → Updater. When an update is available, disable proxy from the Wifi settings (Hold the current network → Modify network → Proxy → None → Save/Connect).
8. After that return to the Updater and confirm the installation of the new update.

Installation Instructions

2. Procedure

Step 1. Create a new folder “HWOTA” in the external microSD card of your device.

Step 2. Download the firmware update files provided above and copy them to the new HWOTA folder in the SD card.

Step 3. Disconnect the USB cable and power off your device. After that, reboot into fastboot mode by reinserting the USB cable while holding the Volume down button.

Step 4. On your computer, download the Mate 9 updater tool (check the link in prerequisites) and extract the HWOTA folder from the zip file.

Step 5. Open the HWOTA folder on your PC and execute the update.bat file as administrator.

Step 6. A command window that opens up will ask you to reboot the phone into fastboot mode – as you’ve already done that, hit the Enter button to proceed.

Step 7. When the tool replaces and installs TWRP recovery, unplug the USB cable and hold the Power key to turn off. Then reboot into TWRP mode by holding Volume up + Power keys simultaneously for a few seconds. Once you’re in TWRP mode, plug in the USB cable again, wait for a few seconds and then press the Enter key on your computer twice.

Step 8. When the tool asks the update source, type “1” (without quotes) and press Enter. Next, in update type selection, again type in 1 and press the Enter button twice.

Step 9. In a couple of seconds, your device will reboot and start installing the update. You can now safely unplug the USB cable.
